Is Counseling right for me?

Counseling is a collaborative effort between the counselor and the client.

A relationship with a professional counselor can be a valuable resource while you face challenges in your life—be it day-to-day, long-term, or transitional difficulties.

Professional counselors help clients identify their priorities and potential approaches to navigating the inevitable challenges of life. Difficult experiences, relationships, and more can be addressed in counseling sessions

Lucy offers counseling sessions virtually and in person to adults residing in Michigan. Feel free to reach out to explore the possibility of working together.

Walk and Talk Therapy

Lucy offers “Walk and Talk” sessions year-round in Kalamazoo. This option can be especially helpful for people who tend to be restless while sitting and enjoy moving freely.

Additionally, nature can greatly benefit individuals experiencing stress, anxiety, depression, and can even positively affect physiological conditions such as inflammation, blood pressure, and risk of cancer.

Trauma Healing with Somatic Experiencing®

Lucy is trained in Somatic Experiencing®, which is an approach to trauma healing developed by Dr. Peter Levine. It offers a framework to assess where a person is “stuck” in the fight, flight, or freeze responses and provides tools to resolve these fixated physiological states.

FAQS

    • Payment is accepted via health savings account, credit card, cash, or check.

    • A limited number of slots are available on a sliding scale based on financial need.

  • I am considered an in-network provider with Blue Cross Blue Shield, United Health, ASR, Ulliance EAP, and Spring Health.

I am awaiting credentialing with Priority Health, Aetna, and Humana.

I am considered an out-of-network provider by other insurance companies, which means that I don’t bill them directly, although I can provide what is known as a “Superbill” that you can submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement.

Payments can be made via Health Savings Account (HSA), credit card, cash, or check. All clients need to have a valid credit or debit card on file.

  • Down to Earth Well-Being LLC aims to model economic viability and integrity. My intention is that sessions are as financially sustainable and as widely inclusive as possible, while still supporting a living wage.

I consider the lack of access to health and wellness due to systemic, capitalist inequality to be unethical. Therefore, I aim to challenge this system and ‘be the change’ by offering an alternative that is sustainable and regenerative. Essentially, this means that no one will be turned away due to a lack of access to financial resources.

Revenue created from those paying in the more resourced tiers will allow for greater accessibility and inclusivity for the differently resourced in our communities.

Please read the following categories and choose which best reflects your ability to invest in yourself and the broader community. Prices are per 50-minute session.

$125 per session. Consider paying at this level if one or more of the following apply: you have abundantly more than enough to meet your basic needs, own a newer car and/or a home or rent a higher-end property, own multiple properties, have reliable work that does not depend on the economy or do not need to work to meet your needs, can afford to travel every year, have expendable income, have adult children who you regularly support financially

$100 per session. Please pay at this level if one or more of the following apply: you have stable employment that pays above the minimum living wage, are able to live beyond meeting your basic needs, can travel every couple/few years without burden, have grown children who you sometimes support financially in some ways, are able to regularly chose “extra” pleasures and self-care options like dining out, massage, yoga classes, etc.

$75 per session. Please pay at this level if you have limited expendable income, unstable or seasonal employment but are still able to meet basic needs, and have little or no access to savings.

Invest-What-You-Can: Consider this option only if you struggle to meet your basic needs and paying would be a significant hardship. Please let me know the amount you are able to invest.
