I am excited to announce partnering with the Crim Fitness Foundation and bringing the MBSR experience to Genesse county.  This next session of the 8-week Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) class will be on Tuesday afternoons,  May 8 – June 26, 2018  from 4:30-6:30 pm. The next MBSR All-day Retreat will be held on Saturday, March 3, 2018.  Free for past and current students, those with established meditation practices can join in for only $30.  Call or email me to reserve your spot!

Awakening Health Counseling also offers private and semi-private MBSR options.  Although it may be more expensive, you can’t beat the convenience of making your own schedule!

  •  Option 1 – 2 hour classes each week which include the mindfulness practices and lecture/discussion.  $300 per session.
  • Option 2 – 1 hour classes each week which skip the mindfulness practices.  You do them at home with the practice CDs that I give you.  $150 per session
  • Option 3 – You gather up a minimum of 10 people to create your own class at a mutually convenient time at your site. Standard MBSR tuition applies within 5 miles of my office – beyond that travel time charges will apply.

The Power of Stillness – Mindfulness in Daily Life- 1 ½ hrs

Learn how Mindfulness meditation can unlock your innate powers of healing and wellbeing in this experiential evening.  Additionally, you will leave with 2 practical tools for reducing stress and creating peace of mind.

Calming the Anxious Mind – Mindful Yoga- 1 ½ hrs

Reconnecting with your body, through the practice of gentle mindful yoga, can be an antidote to your anxious mind.  This class is appropriate for everyone, even those who have never done yoga or may have physical challenges.  Bring a yoga mat or large towel.

Ending the Suffering – Mindfulness and Pain Management-1 ½ hrs

Mindfulness is a powerful means for managing physical and emotional pain and improving your quality of life.  Begin learning how to connect with your own strength and resources for reducing pain levels and enhancing your ability to cope with pain that may not go away.

Exploring Mindfulness Meditation Practice -Three 1 ½ hr classes or a 5 hr workshop

Join us to learn the four formal meditative practices of mindfulness.  As a result, you will learn how to relax and reduce the effects of stress in your life. You will also gain insight into managing emotional and physical pain, and improving the quality of your life.  Additionally, participants will experience informal mindfulness practices. As you begin to cultivate inner calmness, you’ll learn about the connections between stress and health.  So, if you are feeling that something is missing in your life, want to reduce anxiety or just want to take some time for yourself,  don’t want to miss this class!

Mindful Parenting – 1 1/2 hrs

Parenting in the 21st century presents unique challenges. And many parents find that traditional strategies are coming up short.  Learn how mindful parenting – intentional presence, suspending judgments and cultivating open-heartedness for yourself and your child – can transform your relationships, deepen meaning and improve the quality of your family life.

Cultivating the Mindful Child – 1 1/2 hrs

You can use simple activities and enjoy books together as you help your child develop emotional intelligence, self-regulating skills and a deeper appreciation for the world around her/him.
